Our Mission

The Bradley Center is committed to improving the lives of children and families affected by trauma, mental illness, and behavioral health challenges

The Bradley Difference

The Bradley Center is committed to improving the lives of those affected by trauma, mental illness, and behavioral health challenges. We believe that every person deserves to thrive in their own unique way. By providing a safe haven where children, teens, and adults can find holistic treatment and a welcoming community, we encourage their growth and celebrate their resilience.

Located a few miles west of Pittsburgh, PA, The Bradley Center’s programs have served families throughout the northeast region of the U.S. for over a century. Our programs include The Bradley Center residence for children; The Bradley School, a licensed private academic school for elementary and secondary students; a robust series of school-based mental health services administered in neighboring school districts by the Bradley Center’s clinical staff; and outpatient therapy and family support services for children, teens, and adults.

At Bradley, our team of dedicated professionals work together to provide data-informed, experience-driven care that is tailored to meet the individual needs, goals, and dreams of every person we serve. With generous help from our staff, volunteers, sponsors, and donors, The Bradley Center empowers people to overcome obstacles, discover their strengths, and truly build lives of possibility.

Our Vision

Based on our cornerstone values of compassion, stability, and structure, Bradley Center children receive the behavioral tools they need to change their own lives for the better. For over 100 years, we have supported this mission by:

  • Focusing programs and services on the specific and individual needs of the youth and families we serve
  • Measuring each child’s progress and making treatment decisions based on data, experience, and empathy
  • Fostering positive, creative, and collaborative play
  • Celebrating the inherent strength and resilience of children and families
  • Collaborating with the families we serve, educational institutions, government agencies, and our generous volunteers, sponsors, and donors to create meaningful change for the children of The Bradley Center.

Most importantly, we believe that every child deserves a second chance — or as many chances as they need to find their own way forward.

“I wanted to write to thank you and your staff for the excellent work The Bradley Center did with my son. He has come home after several months at Bradley, and he has had a significant improvement in his lengthy struggle with depression, self-harm, and behavioral problems.

He talks a lot about the staff in the Discovery Unit and he has notes hanging on his bedroom wall with some of the insightful and encouraging things that the staff told him. He felt loved and appreciated at Bradley and he speaks highly about everyone there.

We really appreciate everything The Bradley Center did.”
